Urdu department is oldest department of this college which is specially established by founder of this college. This department is dream department of sardar Dyal Singh Majithia. Dyal Singh Majithia have written about Urdu department It will always continue and grow in his will. Dyal Singh Majithia himself appoint Allama Tajwer Najibabadi all time renowned Urdu scholar great critics and authority of Urdu poetry as a first teacher of this department .There was no Urdu scholar like Najeebabadi in India at that time. In the time of partition Professor Abid Ali Abid another world fame Urdu teacher and scholar was principal of this college who fought legal battle with pak government and establishment for college secular character for this noble cause professor Abid Ali Abid had been dismissed from this college. After establishment of this college in India professor Sharib Rudaulvi a great scholar Urdu language and literature was teacher of this department many many years.At this time Professor Sajid Hussain has been decorated this wonderful tradition and legacy of department along Dr. Shahid Iqbal. Department of Urdu offered Urdu discipline as Major and Minor GE, AEC and the SEC subject in course of B.A programme and B.A Honours.

Its literary society Bazm-e-Adab always organized various literary and cultural programmes and events in the whole academic year.
