Live streaming of Chandrayan 3 Landing
On August 23, 2023, the Environment Committee under the ageis of Department of Environmental Studies of Dyal Singh Evening College organized a gathering of students and faculty members to observe the live streaming of the Chandrayaan-3 landing on the college campus, allowing them to witness the historic and proud moment together.
The successful landing of India's Chandrayaan-3 was a monumental occasion that not only sparked curiosity but also ignited a passion for exploration within the minds of our youth. It generated a profound sense of pride and unity as we collectively celebrated the prowess of Indian science and technology. Additionally, it contributed to fostering an environment of scientific inquiry and innovation.

Field Trip on the Occasion of National Wildlife Week 2023 (Participation in Dragonfly and Damselfly Survey)
National Wildlife Week is celebrated annually from October 2 to October 8 to raise awareness about the conservation and protection of India's rich biodiversity, including its flora and fauna. The Environment Committee, under the ageis of the Department of Environmental Studies organized a field trip to Kamla Nehru Ridge Biodiversity Park to commemorate National Wildlife Week 2023. The trip was held on October 7, 2023, and was attended by 43 students from the college accompanied by Dr. Sarthak Malhotra, Dr. Sandeep K. Malyan, and Ms. Aruna Sharma. At the park, students engaged in a survey of damselflies and dragonflies. Initially, Dr. Ak. Singh and Mr. Harmik Singh, the scientist in charge and field biologist at the park, respectively, provided the students and teachers with instructions and materials for the survey. During the survey, students explored the forest and wetland ecosystems in the park, recording several species such as the wandering glider, ruddy marsh skimmer, black stream glider, and Asiatic blood tail. The park’s diverse vegetation included Kadam trees, Mother-in-law Tongue plant, Wild pineapple plants, and Vilayati kikar (Prosopis juliflora). In addition to this students also observed dragonflies such as the Green Marsh Hawk, and Ditch Jewel.

Expert Lecture on: Fostering Self Care Practices among Working Women _An Ayurveda Perspective
On November 8, 2023, the Environment Committee of Dyal Singh Evening College arranged a lecture titled "Fostering Self-Care Practices among Working Women - An Ayurveda Perspective." The Expert Dr. Anagha Ranade, Research officer (Ayurveda), Central Council Research in Ayurvedic Science shed light on the often-overlooked health challenges faced by working women and how they can achieve a balance between work, family, and health with the principles of Ayurveda. The lecturer was followed by a plantation drive.

Field Trip on the Occasion of World Wetlands Day
On February 2nd, 2024, the Department of Environmental Studies organized a field excursion to Yamuna Biodiversity Park to celebrate the World Wetlands Day. More than 45 students from diverse courses eagerly participated in this trip. They were accompanied by Dr. Sarthak Malhotra and Dr. Sandeep K Malyan.
The trip provided a hands-on experience with wetland ecosystems and conservation efforts. The day included lectures by experts like Prof. C.R. Babu, Prof. S. Shekhar, Dr. Fayaz Khudsar, Mr. Vijay Kumar Singh and Professor Radheshyam Sharma, covering topics from the importance of wetlands to their economic value and role in livelihoods. The Experts emphasized that “the conservation and protection of Delhi’s existing wetlands, particularly the revival of old, dry water bodies, would not only boost the Capital’s ecology, but also provide it with an economic boost”.
Students explored various park areas, including the deep wetland, Herbal Garden, Butterfly Conservatory, and Nature Reserve Zone with various forest communities and grasslands. During the trip, students observed a variety of bird species, including Great and Little cormorants, Gadwall, Northern shoveler, Darter, and Pond heron. The sighting of a checkered keelback snake in the deep wetland was a highlight. The excursion aimed to raise environmental awareness and promote sustainability, reflecting the department's ongoing efforts in this regard.

Field Trip on the Occasion of World Environment Day
The Environment Committee under the ageis of Department of Environmental Studies of Dyal Singh Evening College organized a field trip to Kamla Nehru Ridge Biodiversity Park to commemorate World Environment Day 2023. The goal of the trip was to give students hands-on experience with forest and wetland ecosystems and conservation efforts. The trip was held on June 5th, 2023, and was attended by 23 students from the college accompanied by Dr. Sarthak Malhotra and Dr. Sandeep K. Malyan. Activities included a plantation drive, exploration of various species, and a survey of the butterfly conservatory. During the survey, students observed a variety of plant species, such as Amaltas (Cassia fistula), Baheda, water lily, Arjun (Terminalia arjuna), and Rakhi bhel. They also observed caterpillar eggs and pupa.
